Reservation Requests for Winter 2022-2023 are now Available!

  • Reservations for the 2022-2023 Winter Season Starting on September 1, for the remainder of the 2022-2023 winter season we will offer guests the ability to book individual Private Rooms and Loft Spaces. Availability for those opportunities will be displayed directly on the booking calendars for those rooms.

    • We Strongly Recommend Hiring Mountain Guides for Your Trip! Custom/Private Ski Guiding with San Juan Mountain Guides is available for groups of all types and ability levels. The terrain around Red Mountain Pass is complex and from the perspective of trip enjoyment and safety, hiring The Local Experts will help to insure your trip is a fun and rewarding experience!

      • All 2022-2023 Winter & Spring Pricing Includes Food! Historically we have separated the food and lodging costs individually for our guests. To simplify the reservations process, we have decided to combine those costs into one easy to understand nightly lodging rate – which includes Dinner, Aprés Soup/Appetizer, Full American Breakfast, & Trail Lunch.

      Our Policies

      Reservations

      • Full payment is due upon reservation
      • Check in 2:00 pm/Checkout Time is 10:00 am
      • Early drop off and/or late pickup for gear can be arranged

      Cancellation Policy

      Any changes in reservations must be made 30 days in advance of arrival date. Cancellations within 30 days of the arrival date will not be given credit. No refunds.

      An 80% credit towards future lodge stays will be given for cancellations made more than 30 days from arrival.

      Groups deciding not to come when avalanche danger rating is Extreme as forecast by the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, or if Red Mountain Pass is closed, will be given full credit to be used within 12 months.

      Our winter guests need to remember that Ouray County is snow country and snowstorms may be expected at any time. Snow tires or chains may be required to travel the high country roads. The roads over the passes are kept open by the Colorado Highway Department. Sometimes the passes are closed for avalanche mitigation.

      Food

      Please inform RMAL of any food requests prior to your stay. Certain requests (vegan) may require additional fees.  Special food requests less than 48 hours from date of stay/booking cannot be accommodated (gluten free, vegetarian, etc.).

      Alcohol

      Because RMAL is a licensed tavern in the state of Colorado, any personal alcohol is not permitted at the lodge.

      Children

      In the winter we do not allow children under 7 years old. Children between 7-11 with parents will need to book a private room and not left unaccompanied. We make exceptions in the off season and special circumstances. Please contact us personally regarding your request.

      Pets

      Sorry, we love our pets too, but we cannot accommodate pets. We follow ADA guidelines for service dogs.

      Lodge Etiquette

      • Leave boots and wet gear in designated drying areas.
      • Please keep personal gear out of the living room /dining area.
      • Please keep ski, poles and snowboards in designated areas outside.
      • Please conserve water.
      • Quiet hours from 10:30 pm-6:00am.
      • For health and safety of our guests, the RMAL is a non-smoking lodge.
